25 May Costa Rica Aquiares Estate
Back in February we had a fantastic few days showing off our beautiful part of Scottish Highlands to Diego Robelo of Aquiares Estate. Hills were summited, kilts were donned and far too much whisky was drunk round the fire. We also cupped some spectacular samples from Aquiares and Diego gave a brilliant talk about his farm. This is one very enlightened place. Not only does Diego love experimenting with new varietals (we had his centroamericano F1 here last year) but under his guidance Aquiares has also achieved carbon neutral status, the first coffee farm in Costa Rica to do so.
It’s such a special feeling to know the people and the stories behind a coffee when it comes in to the roastery and so we are particularly happy to have just taken delivery of our first few bags of this season’s Aquiares. This first lot is a fully washed caturra from the farm with a beautiful caramel sweetness and creamy notes of plum and chocolate. Your summer coffee sorted.
