Stand Fast. Dealing with the Covid-19 crisis at Glen Lyon.

We wanted to update you on the impact that the coronavirus crisis is having on Glen Lyon Coffee. The world has been turned on its head in the past couple of weeks leaving small roasters like ourselves fighting to save our business and our livelihoods. But we are still up and running and determined to keep everyone going at home with our great coffees.

We have a wide range of coffees available online with the new option of asking for your coffee to be pre-ground as well as offering larger 1KG bags for those in full on lockdown or isolation.  It goes without saying that we are going above and beyond the guidelines on hygiene when roasting and packing. We have recently set up a local delivery service to customer’s front doors in our electric car and in the coming weeks will be offering a series of promotions  to help keep our coffee flowing. (If you haven’t already please subscribe to our newsletter to stay up to date with special offers and discounts). As always, we continue to offer free delivery on orders over £15.

Right now we are down to a skeleton crew with most of the team at home furloughed on the government’s job retention scheme. We intend to be back up to full strength as soon as this crisis is over, but in the meantime please note that your order may take a little longer than normal to be packed and processed. We also understand that there have been reports of slight delays with Royal Mail deliveries recently.

Coffee is one of life’s simple pleasures and a source of real comfort to the millions of us that are currently stuck at home right now. But there are a couple of other reasons right now to keep drinking ethically sourced, locally roasted coffee. If small indie businesses like ourselves are forced to close down Big Business will end up with a total stranglehold on the food and drink we consume. Furthermore, the coffee farmers receive the highest prices when selling speciality beans to roasters like ourselves on the international market. If demand dries up their income will also collapse this season.

That is why it is so important, now more than ever, to support small independent businesses and buy local as much as possible.

Glen Lyon Coffee was founded by the Grant family whose clan motto is ‘Stand Fast.’ We intend to live by these words in the coming weeks and months and are committed to providing secure jobs in this beautiful part of the Highlands as well as supporting our producers at origin and serving our local community.

Sending you all our best wishes from the team. Keep well and stay hopeful.
