As we move into the autumn the highland light sharpens and there is nowhere better to explore landscape photography than the ever-enigmatic Glen Lyon. Join photographer and mountain guide Jamie Grant on a photography workshop that will cover all the first principles of analogue black and white in the field. Topics covered include the basics of exposure and composition and different film formats from 35mm to large format.

Jamie will draw on 20 years of living in Glen Lyon to lead you the most stunning outlooks that are best suited to the weather conditions. Photograph ancient trees, abstracts and big open vistas. All you need is to bring along an old film camera, film and your eye for the natural world in black and white.

Jamie will lead an optional processing and printing workshop in Stills darkroom in Edinburgh in a follow up date to be arranged. The cost of this is £50 plus the price of paper and chemicals and is an opportunity for you to take one of your Glen Lyon images from exposed film all the way through to a hand-print on archive paper.

Jamie is a photographer, qualified mountain leader and longtime resident of Glen Lyon. His book Winter in Glen Lyon (2014) was shot over ten long years in black and white with an old Leica film camera. He is also the Director and co-owner of Glen Lyon Coffee Roasters, so you are covered for great coffee on this workshop!
