14 Jan January Update
Dear Coffee Friends
We hope you are all safe and well out there. We would like to reassure you that are still here roasting and posting daily, sourcing and cupping delicious beans and working with new farms and old friends.
The new harvest Brazils have all now landed in the UK and we are super excited about this season’s Fazenda do Lobo from the lovely Foresti family that we started working with in 2019. This is the basis of our Red Stag Seasonal Espresso so we are stoked to see just how good this blend is going to get with this fresh crop Lobo. We also have another exceptional Brazil from Jorge Barakat’s farm Fazenda Paraiso. An anaerobically fermented natural this coffee is all about the mouthfeel – a big bodied, boozy strawberry delight.
For those of you that prefer the clean and bright fully washed Central and South Americans that we so love here at Glen Lyon we have two new lots just in. The first from Colombia’s Finca Las Mercedes – juicy and sweet with raspberry and honeycomb notes and the second a very special lot from Enrique Vasquez Zamora’s farm in Peru’s Cajamarca region – which is super floral and complex.
Meanwhile we await with great anticipation the arrivals of the Tanzanian and Rwandan harvests which should be arriving at our roastery in the next couple of weeks.
For our local Aberfeldy friends and community we will continue to remain open on Fridays and Saturdays for take away coffee (this has to be served outside from now on so bring along your thermals guys!) as well as a chance to stock up on all our freshly roasted beans.
We can’t tell you just how grateful we are for all your support as we roll into 2021 in full Scottish lockdown. It’s a cold and pretty lonely place out there at the moment but we want to assure you that we are here for our community both here and online. The World Health Organisation defines health as ‘a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease’. We are firm believers that eating well, exercising, getting outdoors as much as possible and simple pleasures in life such as a delicious cup of coffee can help make life a little better at the moment.
Stay safe and healthy and hope to see you soon.
