Please join us at our roastery on Friday when we will be donating 💯of all drink sales to the Katanda Water Project, bringing clean water to coffee producing communities in the remote Rwenzori region of Uganda.

We’ve been sourcing coffee from this beautiful part of the world for the last two years (and hopefully many more to come) and when we asked our producers if we could help fundraise for any local projects on the ground, they mentioned this water project, initiated by a group of coffee farmers from the Katanda community who re-invested some of the additional money they made from selling their coffee on the international market to bring freshwater to their communities.

The farmers initially installed a water pipe to bring water from the spring high in the hills to a central hub. We’re fundraising for the final phase of the project to run 12 pipes with tap stands from the main hub out to different outlying communities.

This is such a worthwhile grassroots project and we really hope you can help us support it. We’ll be match funding every pound raised. You can read more about the project via the link in our bio. 👆

We’ve been sourcing coffee from the Rwenzori reg

We’ve been sourcing coffee from the Rwenzori region of Uganda for two years now, working with the purpose driven business and fellow B Corp @agri_evolve. Right from the start we’ve been impressed by Agri Evolve’s commitment to work directly with Ugandan farmers to improve yields, increase incomes and raise the quality of life for more than 15,000 farmers, together with their families and communities.

To help support these coffee producers we’re fundraising to help Agri Evolve buy a network of taps for the Katanda Water Project. The project was initiated by a group of farmers from the Katanda community who invested some of the additional money they made from selling their coffee on the international market into supplying clean water to their communities.

They initially installed a water pipe to bring water from the spring high in the hills to the community, saving them the need to walk several miles every day to collect water from streams.

This year they have taken the project stage further by constructing a second tank to collect water from the hill. Now completed a single tap has been installed next to the tank.

The farmers need help with the final phase of their project, to deliver water to wider network surrounding communities. Although the tank has been built in the central trading centre, many families live some distance from this hub. So the plan is to install a network of smaller pipes from the tank to run to the outlying communities.

We have offered to fundraise to extend clean water into these more far-flung communities. £100 will cover the cost of running a pipe from the main tank to a new location and for the construction of a tap stand and tap. We want to raise the money for 12 of these installations. To help support this project Glen Lyon have committed to match every £1 raised from donations so we only need to raise £600 to reach our £1200 target.
